look mom...

the other day as i was making dinner lia and jaxon decided to amuse themselves by trying on mom and dad's clothes. whatever keeps them entertained right?? so lia comes down the stairs with this outfit on and says "look mom ...i look like i'm from the nineties!" like it's the oldest period of time she can possibly think of. ...nice...

of course jax did not want to be left out of the fun and came up with a few winner combinations of his own :)

backyard swimming

There's really not much to say about this post...just some pictures I took the other day as the kids were playing in the back yard. :)

weekend in Chicago

After we picked Lia up in Indiana we decided to stay in Chicago for the rest of the weekend before going home. We had a wonderful time hanging out together.
Chicago is such a great city - I hope we get to visit again soon.

Jaxon and Maggie playing light sabers with their push pops in the car. They are even the appropriate colors...how fun.

Maggie was all about jumping on the hotel beds
- she was mostly excited to be out of the car I'm sure!
Lia and Jaxon were thrilled that the hotel gave us "free paper".
You have to love kids! Here they are drawing on it.
here they are finally settled in
- watching spongebob...not a show they get to watch at home so they were thrilled.
I'm not really a fan of this picture of myself, but I love it of Lia...so I include it
some hotel swimming
Maggie wouldn't let Lia out of her sight all weekend, she was so happy to see her. So Sweet.
Jaxon felt great all weekend - Yay! Here he is playing with Ty.
Ty may not be thrilled that I am including this picture (due to the awesome farmer tan).
I like it though.. two of the cutest boys I know.
we took the kids to the Lincoln Park Zoo. it was insanely crowded...but very fun

that Popsicle is supposed to look like Dora...I think it may have melted a bit at some point
there are entertainers all over the place in the zoo - the kids especially liked this juggler
the girls :)
this grassy area is just outside the zoo - i thought it made for some cool pictures with the buildings in the background

all tuckered our after a fun weekend

fine dining in Indiana

If you ever find yourself in Rensselaer Indiana we recommend stopping by "Los Tres Garcias" our new favorite eating establishment. :)

Let me explain. We went to pick up Lia this past weekend and my sister and I had to choose a spot somewhere in between Wisconsin and Kentucky to meet, eat dinner, and pass Lia off. So sight unseen we chose "Los Tres Garcias"...because, well, it was close to the freeway, what can we say?? Anyway, when we arrived we had a good laugh at the exterior of the building. We were apparently feeling brave though because we did eat there. (Sorry G. Lynn...it probably wasn't up to your standards...cleanliness wise that is). The food was actually quite tasty! :)
Anyway, here are some pictures of our dining adventure...and all of the cousins together!

Doesn't the front of the building just scream come eat here??

family night golf

While Lia was with her cousins last week...Tyler and I took Jax and Maggie to the driving range for family night. It was a fun evening...Jaxon had fun golfing, and Maggie had fun being his assistant. She loved handing him a new ball out of the bucket every time he was ready for one. We ended the night with a treat from dairy queen, which always goes over well with the kiddos. :)
Here are a few pics..
