a trip for ty

Tyler had a chance to take a trip to Las Vegas earlier this month. I am just getting around to posting pictures of his fun. Ty's sister Katie was playing b-ball (for the U of U) in the Mountain West Conference tournament, and most of the King family decided to make the trip to watch. The kids and I were bummed that we weren't able to go, but glad that Ty had some time to enjoy with his fam.
I should mention that the Lady Utes managed to win the tournament - GO UTES!
Below is slideshow of the trip!

I can't believe this was Katie's last year playing ball. We have watched her play every winter since she was in junior high and we are certainly going to miss cheering for her from the sidelines. It has been such a joy to watch you play Katie, you are an example to all of us on and off the court .... we love you!

this logo here at the end is for all of you fans of that other school..

grandma's visit

We were thrilled to have my mom come visit the first week in March. It was so great spend some time with her. The kids had a great time hanging out with grandma, showing her where they go to school, soccer etc. Here are some pictures from her visit. Unfortunately most of these are pictures that she took so they do not include her cute face.
Sorry mom - next time we need to get a few more pictures of you!

While my mom was visiting I was able to chaperone Lia's school field trip. It was so nice of her to watch Jax and Maggie so that I could spend some time with Lia. We went to the Appleton Performing Arts Center to see a production of "Mrs. Bindergarten gets ready for Kindergarten". The kids were really well behaved and loved the play - it was great fun!

Here's Lia and her friend Laela - loading up on the bus.

Laela, Lia and Amanda get ready for the show to start!

jax sporting some new shades from aunt jenn and a new TMNT shirt that Ty bought on e-bay. We finally found a replacement for his other shirt! HOORAY!

Grandma Lynn bought the girls some new Littlest Pet Shop animals - here they are playing away! Thanks Grandma :) Silly Jax
Grandma got to join Lia for school lunch one day - she snapped a few photos of Lia and her buddies eating. Frech Toast Sticks on the menu...Lucky Grandma!

Our week also included shopping, eating out, a movie (Marley and Me), an overnight date for Tyler and I, and Lily's b-day celebration. My mom was able to meet each of the kids teachers, watch them both play soccer Saturday morning, and in church on Sunday our family sang together in Sacrament meeting and Lia gave a talk in Primary. Thanks for everything mom...please come again soon - and maybe you could bring that handsome guy you married with you. :)

soccer mom

I can now officially refer to myself as a soccer mom. Lia and Jaxon started playing indoor soccer at the YMCA towards the end of February. They are on the same team and so far seem to be having a great time with it. Lia is quite aggressive - and Jax quite timid ...but we'll see what happens as they keep playing.
here are some pictures of their adventure so far..
this is the very first day - all of the kids practicing a few skills
Lia is on the left - oink shorts brown shirt
Jax is on the right - gray shirt-arms folded

Lily's Birthday

We celebrated Lily's Birthday this past Sunday. She would have been three years old this year. My mom was in town (which was great) we had a nice dinner and cake and ice cream Saturday night. My mom bought some gorgeous Lilies for the center of the table (thanks mom). It is a hard day in many ways but we were grateful to have some time to reflect upon our short time with our precious daughter.
It is amazing how much someone so tiny can change so many lives in just five days.
We love you Lily - you are in our thoughts always.

Here are some pictures of the kids decorating the cake.

ski trip 09

I had the opportunity to fly home to do some skiing/celebrate my mom's b-day the first weekend in March. My sister Jenn (who lives in Washington) flew in for the weekend as well. No kiddos on this trip, it was just the four of us! It was so relaxing and nice, and as usual went by to quickly. Thanks mom and dad (and thanks ty and gary for watching the kids)- it was a great weekend!
The only crazy part of the trip was that we had a small blizzard the Thursday I flew out of Wisconsin and I got stuck in the Green Bay airport for what seemed like an eternity. I was supposed to leave Green Bay at 3:00 and didn't actually end up leaving until 9:30 due to weather delays. So I ended up rolling into Salt Lake at about 2:30 in the morning and getting to bed around 4am! :)
On Friday we slept in (due to the fact that we went to bed at 4 in the morning). Once we finally got up dad made us a yummy breakfast and we decided to take a trip to the Hill Air Force Base museum . My Dad loves airplanes and he wanted to see their exhibit about the Berlin Airlift - I didn't know much about this event...but it was actually really interesting.
Here we are on our way out the door.

we took this photo for my niece Audrey - i am trying to point out that "Audrey" is the name of the plane. It's a bit dark but if you look close you can see the name.

My dad was an Air Force pilot in his younger years - in this pic he is standing below the T-38.. one of the planes he used to fly.cute parents
Friday evening after our museum excursion we went out to dinner at Macaroni Grill in Salt Lake, went back to my parents house, kicked it in our jammies and played Trivial Pursuit. All three of the girls against my dad, it's the only way we had a chance of winning! :)

Saturday Morning we went Skiing at Snowbasin.
Here are some photos of the fun.

Mom and Jenn gearing up..

stopping for a quick self portrait

the results of the photo shoot...trying to look hard core and not pulling it offsmiling for mom's camera

dad wasn't able to ski this year, but he came and met us for lunch. here he is soaking up some sunshine and mountain air (and sporting some packer pride as well I might add)

the girls

how cute is my mom in her lime green :)

funny story... I told my mom to take this picture because i thought the hill behind me would look steep and impressive - which did not work out because for some reason in the photo it ended up looking like the bunny hill. also I may have wanted to think through the fact that you can see the tracks I left in the snow climbing up to that point..

..i'm a geekwe lucked out and had a gorgeous day...so I took a few scenery pics

and to finish off a very long post..... my mother happens to own the same suit as Sarah Palin, jenn couldn't resist attempting the Palin look and snapping a few photos just for laughs :)
