Halloween - Part 1

Is it just me, or is Halloween getting a bit out of control activity wise? We've had a great week - but I must admit I am a bit exhausted. Here is a glimpse of the Halloween goings on at the King household.

We started the week off carving pumpkins with our friends Adam, Kathleen and little Lena Mangum. Adam and Kathleen made some cool black pumpkins with designs carved into them,
I may have to try it next year.
Ty and the kids stuck to the basics, eyes.. nose ..mouth - done! :)
Here they are hard at work.

For costumes we went with the following.....

Tink

Tennage Mutant Ninja Turtle -(Raphael to be exact)
and Hannah Montana

Sunday Morning ROCKS!

Let me share with you a little series of events that took place at our house last Sunday morning.

Tyler was gone to early morning meetings and I was trying to get myself and the kiddos ready for church. I had sent Lia upstairs to get dressed when all of the sudden I hear the Hannah Montana CD blaring from her room at a ridiculously high volume.
SO... I went up to remind her that mom can only handle so much Hannah, and only so loud.
This is what I found - Lia, rocking out on her bed complete with guitar and boots.
I thought she looked cute so I took a picture and went back to getting ready.
I really had a good laugh when I went up a second time....because the volume was yet again getting out of control - and this is what I found....
Two little rock stars on the bed - apparently Maggie didn't want to be left out of the action!:)

And then there's Jax - wondering how he got stuck with this family full of GIrLS!
* Just a side note - I did actually get around to fixing the girls hair for church, I realize in these pictures it is a bit scary. It kinda adds to Lia's whole Janis Joplin vibe she has going though right?

superhero invasion

Jaxon had his friend Nick over to play the other day - after a while they both ended up in costume. Here are some pictures of their exploits, saving the world from crime....or running around in our backyard, whatever..
Even superheroes need lunch, apparently they like mac and cheese! Yummy!
Say cheese for mom :)
Jax(all about the side smile these days), Nick - scared Maggie to death when he came downstairs with this mask on .

she's a big girl now

I put Maggie's hair in pigtails for the first time the other day! Tyler and I couldn't believe how old she looked. She is also getting some more teeth, as is apparent by the immense amount of drooling going on. She is so much fun but she seems to be growing up way to fast. :)

the festivities

Friday was Lia's sixth birthday!
Six, oh my goodness when did I get old enough to have a six year old daughter!?
Anyway - it was a great day, she got to bring a treat to school, pick a book from the library to keep, her class sang to her, and on top of all that it was school popcorn day.
It doesn't get better than that when your six!
When Ty got home we went out to dinner at Pizza Hut (Lia's Choice) and then came back home for cake and presents.
I didn't really say anything about Lia when I posted her b-day slideshow, but I will now take the opportunity to share a few thoughts. Lia has been a blessing to Tyler and I since the day she was born, and continues to bless our family in so many ways. She has so much enthusiasm for life, I love being around her because everything seems exciting. She is the best big sister in the world, I know Maggie and Jax would have no idea what to do without her. She is constantly making up games to play with Jaxon and helping Maggie on the slide at the playground. She is my other pair of hands and I'm pretty sure I don't thank her enough for it. Lia is brave, smart and kind. I am so proud of who she is, I can hardly wait to see what adventures await in the future.
Happy six years baby girl - I love you more that words can say.
- mOm

if anyone was wondering if Lia has Tyler wrapped around her little finger observe the hot pink guitar :)

Thank you so very much to all of you who remembered Lia's birthday, she appreciated all of the cards, packages, phone calls and e-mails! They mean so much, you are the BEST!

conference weekend

We had a nice general conference weekend Sat. and Sun. Ty gathered lots of games/worksheets to keep the kids occupied - therefore we played many a game of conference bingo around the kitchen table! We will of course have to review the talks, because with small children only so much listening actually happens. Here are some pics of our mild successful efforts to keep the troops entertained!

Maggie Pics for Grandma

My mom mentioned the other day how much Maggie had changed recently. She is getting big - and has more attitutde every day. Anyway, I am posting some pics for grandma - being the grandparents living several states away is no fun, so I must keep them updated. Here is my Mags - I am so enjoying spending some time alone with her while the other kiddos are off at school, she is such a joy.

Jaxon - a chip off the old block

I had the opportunity to accompany Jaxon on his class field trip the other day. It was a great time! We went to Mulberry Lane Farm (see slideshow below) where the kids had the chance to ride a pony, go for a hayride, milk a cow, check out all kinds of baby animals, and pick pumpkins. It was 4 yr. old Heaven - Jaxon had a wonderful time, and even braved the horse riding. He's never done that before so I was proud of him for branching out.
I'm so glad I got to go spend some time with my son - he's getting big so very fast,
where does the time go?
ON a side note...
while we were on said field trip I couldn't help noticing something else about my Jax -
Can we say FliRT? Jaxon does not think that girls have cooties apparently. He is all about the ladies - it frightens me a bit. He's the same way when Lia has friends over - he can not be stopped. He is always bugging the girls and showing off relentlessly. (Jenn - he reminds me of Tanner back in the day, remember him picking up girls on the beach in Hawaii at the ripe old age of 4) What's a mom to do? I hope the girls are icky stage is just around the corner.
reminds me of someone else i know in his younger days....

oh give me strength....
