all trimmed up

Both of my girls got a haircut this past week, for Maggie it was her first one ever. Unfortunately I forgot to bring the camera to the salon with us. Here are the results! :)

PTA

This past week I spent a large part of my time organizing meals for the teachers at Lia's school during parent teacher conferences. I went to the first PTA meeting of the year thinking I could probably help in some small way. As soon as I sat down they asked me my name and what committee I wanted to chair this year!? Not exactly what I was expecting, but "Teacher Appreciation would be good..I guess" somehow came out of my mouth and next thing you know - I'm in charge! :) So this past week we fed the teachers - all in all it went well, no major catastrophes. The only small hiccup occurred Thursday morning when we had an alarm malfunction at the King household. We thought the alarm was set for 4:30am (early I know, but keep in mind I was supposed to be cooking 12 cinnamon rolls, 2 egg casseroles, 1 french toast casserole, and cut up two platters full of fruit by 7am). To make a long story short - for some reason the alarm never went off and both Tyler and I woke up at 6am. We had 1 hour...you should have seen the scramble. Somehow we managed to pull everything together - and get to the school by about 7:15.

Needless to say it was a long week, but the teachers were very appreciative.
Here are some pics of some of the things we made for them.

moving on to turkey day -

This is Lia's most recent school project. They had to design a turkey on a template that was sent home, the rules were that they couldn't use crayons, markers, or pencils. Here is what she came up with - all Tyler and I did was set out the craft supplies, other than that we didn't touch the thing. I think it turned out rather cute!:)

wanna be like aunt katie..

I believe when Tyler was a young scrub he wanted to be like Mike.....when it comes to basketball idols my son has chosen a much better roll model, he wants to be like Aunt Katie. Katie (tyler's younger sister) plays basketball for the University of Utah - and happens to be one of the nicest human beings on the planet. This year she is playing a tournament in Milwaukee over Thanksgiving, we are thrilled to have Tyler's family out for Thanksgiving and then spend the weekend watching basketball and hanging out with Grandma, Grandpa and aunt Kiley (tyler's baby sister - also one of my children's FAVORITE people).

Here's Katie in action

Here's my Jax - practicing his skills in the front yard the other day!

We are geared up and ready to cheer for the lady UTES in a few weeks (i can hear Adam Mangum sighing in the background...that's right Adam you heard me, none of of that nasty blue and white around this household! )

Maggie learns quickly...

Maggie learned if you walk around saying this to people (well at least this past week) it generally results in a treat in your plastic pumpkin! She has a serious sweet tooth, so she was all over it.

enjoy!

Our ward trunk-or-treat was Wednesday evening, it was a great time -
here are some pics of the fun.....
Tyler and some of the young men were in charge of the ever popular "throw a wet sponge at the bishop game". The kids LOVE it - he was busy all night. The bishop was very patient, and very wet by the end of the evening.
